The Good Citizens program is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. It is open to all senior class students enrolled in accredited public or private secondary schools in good standing with Wisconsin Board of Education.

The students have the option to participate in the Scholarship portion of the contest by writing an essay, at one sitting, within a two-hour limit and without assistance or reference material. Any woman 18 years of age or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership in the DAR.
